God, I feel so ill and drained. It always seems the moment everyone gets back to school, germs are spread around and by the end of the week, theres just coughs and colds all over the school population. So, at this current moment, I’m in my pyjamas with a snot filled nose and eyes that feel like they have just been punched but I’m in a commitment today to get a blog post done.
However, despite my cold, I have no work to do this weekend (apart from learning flashcards) to do because I finished everything I needed to be done in my free periods and at home. My friends though have loads of homework to catch up on so I guess it’s the perfect weekend to be ill.
Although I didn’t publish many blog posts during this week, I did plan a revise with me so here it is. Enjoy.
I live quite far from my sixth form and the school itself doesn’t finish until 3.30 so I normally get home by 5. On the way home, I decided to treat myself to a delicious Boho Gelato Mint and Chocolate Milkshake to help motivate me to study.Β
With sugar running through my veins, at home, I quickly wrote a list of what needed to be done that day which was:
-Finish up on my psychology notes
-Watch a Parliament discussion for my Law class
-Make updated flashcards for Law
-Make updated flashcards for psychology
As it was the beginning of school again, I wanted to slowly bring myself back to work such as this week, I didn’t want to do more than 3 hours but hopefully by October, I will be able to maximise it to at least 4 hours a night.
My psychology teachers asks the class to add notes when we get home so I used the online year one textbook (which is provided for us at school) to write notes on research methods. I find that research methods was the most boring bit in GCSE psychology so I wasn’t very happy to find that it was quite a bit of notes to write.
In my notes, I highlighted key words and phrases so when it comes to writing mind maps, I can use the highlighted words to jog my memory in time for those exams. This took quite a while (maybe around an hour to do them) because I had to read the notes and then try to condense it as much as possible.
After I finished my psychology notes, I decided to write flashcards on Research Methods while I had the time (and motivation) to do them as I knew later on, I will be too tired to do them. It took around 30 minutes to do about 16 flashcards so it wasn’t too bad.Β
For part of my law homework, we had to watch Parliament TV and write about what takes place. The one that I choose was a discussion in the House of Lords about if we should train junior doctors/nurses more about eating disorders to help prevent less faults in the system. The discussion was pretty long around half an hour and I kept pausing to write notes on it so it took again about an hour.
The last thing I needed to do was write updated notes on Parliamentary Law Making and to write flashcards on it too (brilliant). This took another hour which in total, everything took 3 hours and 30 minutes. Happily, I decided to call it a night and facetimed Emily (who was still working her arse off).
Anyways, that’s the first revise with me at Sixth Form! I hope you enjoyed it; it’s been pretty nice to learn about subjects that I find interesting rather spending time on shitty GCSES.Β I know, by the time October hits, my workload is going to be so much more than this.
I hope you had a lovely weekend and that you will dodge the cold season,
Astrid X
