Sh. Listen. Can you hear that?

Come on. Listen a bit closer.

Can you hear the rhythmic breathes that you take in and out? It’s surprisingly calming with the continous pattern of air. It’s comforting and for some, might seem like the only thing that is able to comfort. However, look around the room. Focus on the first thing that catches your eye. It could be the blanket that you sit on, the tree in front of you, your bedroom window, the fridge; it could be anything. Don’t think twice about picking that thing.Relax and go with your instinct. Zoom in on the detail; look at the creases, the sharp edges, the softness, color or shade. Does that thing have a purpose? Does it make the surrounding a bit more interesting?

Now feel where your body is. Your feet are planted on something solid; stable. What do you feel?  Do you feel the bounciness of your bed, the hugging desk chair or do you just simply feel the ground that keeps you standing up?

It’s kinda perfect. Even after all the crap you have to endure in daily life, you are still here; in this beautiful and what seems forever changing world. However, not everything changes: you’re still breathing, your heart is still beating, the ground is still lifting you up. You have a purpose like all the other things.

  1. Dear Hideaway girl, I just wanted to let you know how much your posts have helped me recently and what a talented writer you are 🙂

    Right now Mom is having radiotherapy ( we found out she has breast cancer a few months ago) and it’s just me( I’m 14) and my little sister looking after her. Today was a bad day but your posts always cheer me up! This one especially helped me to focus on the good things in my life and how lucky I am. I always relate to your blogs but it would be really helpful if you could do more of this sort of writing and how to cope with anxiety ect. 🙂

  2. Thankyou for posting this! I’ve been going through a really hard time lately with anxiety and not being able to dance because of an injury, I’m in absolute agony but reading this has made me think about all the things around me and realise that just because of those horrible things that are happening in my life it doesn’t mean my WHOLE life is crap x thankyou! I would love to talk if thats ok? xxx
