A Packed August Favourites 2015

Hi,everyone! It’s the end of August which is really sad because the summer has gone SO fast and this week, I’m going back to school after spending a weekend in Woolacombe (Devon) so that’s why I haven’t been posting very much but I got quite a few things this summer so this favourites post is going to be packed! Enjoy!

One of the many films that I’ve watched this summer is Nowhere Boy which is about the story of John Lennon as a teenager. It’s a very sad story and shocks you how he could go through such a lot as a teenager. I liked learning that the all the Beatles didn’t come from a rich background and it was a really moving story.

I was really surprised to find American Sniper in my favourites because it’s quite a boyish film. American Sniper is about the true story of Chris Kyle which I thought was going to be really boring but there was so much action that I couldn’t even go through instagram the  same time! It did have loads of blood so if you’re not into that then don’t watch it.

Rise of the Planet of the Apes isn’t suitable for 11 year-olds as I found out because my brother was crying the whole way through it even though it’s rated as a 12-a. Anyway, this guy takes in a monkey because his mother was killed in a lab which is making this really brainy germ thing so the baby monkey is really clever. The monkey soon grows up and this whole story blows up into something bigger. I thought I wasn’t going to like it but it was actually really good and I think everyone should watch it.

This summer holiday, I’ve read over 10 books but I’m not going to be able to fit them all in so I’m just going to pick the ones which were my favourites.

It's kind of a funny story

The first one I read was It’s Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini which I borrowed from my friend, Jobo. Craig Gilner is a very determined teen who wants to succeed at life which means pressure soon gets to him when he gets into the ‘perfect’ high school for him. He stops eating and sleeping, until one night, he nearly kills himself. Craig soon gets checked into a mental hospital where he meets other patients who helps him confront his anxiety. You wouldn’t think this book would be funny but in a way, it was. Ned Vizzni told the story in a mind of a depressed person as he,sadly, committed suicide in  2013. I think this is a book everyone should read especially if you have gone through depression yourself.

Paper Aeroplanes

Paper aeroplanes is based in the mid-1990s and fifteen year-old schoolgirls, Renee and Flo, are not really meant to be friends. Both of the girls are completely different to each other. Flo being a quiet good rich girl and Renee being a loud difficult poor girl. I really liked this book as it gave two different stories in the same book. This is perfect to read while you are still at school.

City of Bones

I  have been loving the Mortal Instruments series which is about a girl who discovers about her past which gets her into a ball of dangerous demons where she meets a demon hunter. I really liked this series because you don’t know what’s going to happen next and nobody has given spoiler alerts so this is perfect for me.

Lush and Body Shop Products

Lush’s Karma is a very refreshing and uplifting bubblebar which has a lovely scent of oranges. It smells like the Hippy Happy shower gel but I love that scent so I was very happy about that. It made the bath go dark purple but with loads of bubbles. It had a bit of glitter but didn’t stain the bath. My skin felt so smooth after the bath and I’m very happy about the product.

I decided to use my Dragon’s Egg after months of it being in my box of all things Lush. It smelt very floral which is one of my favourite scents. It made the bath go yellow with little sloshes of blue but I was hoping it was going to bit more colourful . I was also hoping it was going to crackle and pop but I didn’t hear anything. This wasn’t one of my favourites but it did make my skin smooth.

My nan got me body shop Wild Argan Oil shower gel and body lotion which I llooooovvvveee. Thanks nan 🙂 Argan Oil smells like Greek yogurt with a bit of honey in it which made me crave Greek yogurt so this was great to shower with in the morning.

Because school is starting this week, I went and treated myself with a bit of makeup. The first thing I got was Collection’s Lasting Perfection concealer which is my new favourite concealer. It isn’t too pricey and covers up blemishes up really well.

I also got Natural Collection Pressed Powder which reduces the shine after applying my concealer. It gave it a nice matte finish look to it and I was really happy with it.

I was looking through my mum’s hair box thing where I found the Aussie’s Miracle Hair Insurance Leave-In Conditioner which is perfect for my hair because it’s very thick and goes really fizzy. Sorry mum, this is mine now.

This isn’t really a favoruite but anyway, I’m going to see Imagine Dragons with Jobo in November which I’m SO EXCITED about. Just wanted to make you guys jealous.

That’s my favourites done! Give it a like if you’ve enjoyed reading it, comment what are your favoruites of the month, check out my other favourites and follow for more from me!
